Hola Bloggers
On the 16th of November the Middle school syndicate went to Mangere Mountain. Some of our parents came too. We went there to learn about that Mountain and so we can have fun there. Our guides names were Ellie and Leilani.
Getting Ready And Sorted
As the bell went we got ready to get on the school bus I was really excited about going on the bus. The teachers Mr Riceman, Mr Hing - Windsor , Mr Rattenbury and Mrs Mcellan but us in groups with Adults I was with Katrina (Paige's mum). Then we went onto the bus the diver drove us down to Mangere Mountain.
At Mangere Mountain
When we arrived at Mangere Mountain we meet Ellie at the gate and she welcomed us into Mangere Mountain center. Karanga to welcome us. And then they introduce themself. Leilani had a ta moko (a tattoo) on her chin. Then we sang a song to them to thank them from welcoming us in. Then we had morning tea. After that it was time to walk up to the Mountain.
Walking up the Mountain and learning thing
We walked up the mountain, to the main crater then stop to talk a break and learn about the mountain. We learnt how old was Mangere Mountain. And what the name of the mountain before people changed it to Mangere Mountain. The name of it use to be Te Pane O Mataoho. The name of Te Pane O Mataoho was name like that because Mataoho is the god of fire I think because there where volcanoes.
The playing
After we walked up the mountain we had lunch and play I went explore about all the fact about some of the animals, birds and instest. It was lots of fun I got to see ant and earthworms in little boxes with doors it was some much fun.
The workshops
We did two workshops. One was for how plants can be used. The other was how to make a tool to use. I learn a lot with both of the sessions. I think that for these two sessions I didn't have a favorite they both were very fun. The reason I think that is that the making the tools was we got do the actual thing. We got plate flax, scrape the wood and shape a stone into the right shape. And for how plant can be used in different ways. It was very interesting for me.

Kia ora Vivian,
ReplyDeleteCharlotte here from the SLJ team.
What a lovely day you had! You clearly have a great memory, especially for remembering names! This will always come in handy!
What was your favourite part of the whole day? It is great that both workshops were fun and you got time to play, sing and learn about animals.
I always loved school trips as a student and now as a teacher I love seeing my students having fun.
Keep up the great work!
