Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Part 1

 Hello bloggers

Today the 21st of December is the first time I started the Summer Learning Journey.

Activity 1 Making a xylophone

The first activity is making a xylophone. I watched a video about how you can change noise levels. There were two different xylophones. The 1st one is water in a glass the and 2nd one was made out of paper. To make the 1st one you need is glasses or jars of water with different levels and something to tap with like a pencil. Then just tap the glass or jar witch has water in it. For the 2nd one you will need papers (about 4 to 5) , tape, something to tap with and scissors . Roll the pieces of paper. Then tape it with tape and  then cut then into different length. Tap then to get low and high beats. The way that they get low and high beats is because it can vibrate. For the glass is on how much glass can vibrate ,the more it has the higher pitch it is and leasts it has the lower pitch it is. For the paper ones the vibrations when the air get hit it will be a bit harder to escape if it long and the beat is lower but if the tube is shorter the notes are higher.

Activity 2 making a costume for christmas

For activity 2 was making a costume for christmas here is mine:

I wanted to use a template because I didn't know what to use to make this online.

I had to design and costume for christmas on this template it tells you some information about this  design.

I used one to three pictures from search web and for the rest I used a curve a tool to connect and curve.

For me this activity was fun.

  1. Kia ora Vivian. Awesome to see you're completing the activities. I love your design, especially the fact you created some of the shapes yourself. It's also great that Mrs Claus can be sunsmart! Do you have any pictures or videos of your xylophone?

  2. Kia Ora Vivian,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey, it is awesome to see your first post of the summer and I look forward to seeing more as you continue blogging!

I am going to comment on both your activities in this post in one comment. First your xylophone activity, it sounds like you had a lot of fun completing your first Nano Girl experiment and I hope it went well and you made some awesome music. Do you have any photos of your xylophone you could add to your post because it would be great to see your work or even a video of you making your music!!

For your second activity, the santa costume, I think you did a great job again. Your outfit looks perfect for the hot summer weather with the light clothes and hat, you gotta stay sun smart with a hat. I like that you used a lot of details in the colors you used with each color representing summer.

Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Zana Yates
