Yesterday one of our activity was call "Who's Bag is this.". For this I had to write a news report. To be honest I did really understand so I made a poster instead. My poster includes the thing that I found in the bag or the suitcase and an image of a suitcase. I was going to add the thing that were found but I couldn't find any images. So yeah. This is how my poster looks like.

SLJ Summer Essential

Today SLJ is Probably my favorite activity. This activity is called Summer Essential. First of all what those the word Essential mean. One of the meaning of Essential is necessary. Another is one of the meaning is VERY important. Now for this activity I had to make a "Summer Collage".  This is mine

I use a lot of picture that we Use, See, Go, Eat and Do in summer.

I think this was a really fun activity my favorite part is finding the images. Because there were a lot of cool ones but most of them are based / related to New Zealand.

SLJ Make an Optical Illusion

Hope you had a happy new year. Today's blog post is about Optical Illusion. The first thing that I think you would what to know about is what is an Optical Illusion. Optical Illusion is to do eyes and light. It is usually an makes an Illusion is not real. For example cartoons are one of the types of Optical Illusion. It is a lot of drawing making the characters or something move. I learned this from Nano Girl.

Optical Illusion are usually to do with art somehow. This my one that I drew.

For this you will need is coloring pencils and a piece of paper. Now how are we going to make this, it is very simple. you want to make curved lines like this image.

  But you don't need to have that many lines maybe just five and you don't need to have don'ts on the end then after you want to draw as many as you like. Also change colors and draw them  to overlap each other . My advice is to draw them big and small also not have the same colours next to each other.

SLJ Vector Art

 Hi everyone.

Today is 3rd Day of SLJ. And today's activity is Vector Art. In computer art there are 2 types. One of them is Vector Art, which is the subject for today. Vector Art is a computer that is mainly used for sign. For example the Google signs. When you zoom up it will be very clear. The other one is Raster also known as Bitmap. Raster / Bitmap is made out of pixel or tiny square parts. When you zoom in you can see little squares to make the picture. From a far away distance it is very hard to tell that it is made out of pixel. Here is the link where I learned this.

Now today I needed to make one for a decoration online for this I used Raster Images I know they were supposed to use Vector Image but I couldn't seem to find any, to make it look more like a Vector image I decided to use some shapes to replace some of the images and for the Raster images I made a tiny so it is hard to tell. Here is my work it a picture of a wall with some decorations on it.

SLJ (2021 - 2022) Draw a geometry

Today is the second day of this years SLJ. SLJ stands for Summer Learning Journey. So today's activity is       Draw a geometry. So I had a choice of doing the kick start or the step it up. I thought the kick start was a bit too easy so I choose to the Step it up. For this one I learned about triangle. Here is the video link.

After that I had to choose to do it on paper or online. I chose online and for some reason I didn't know what pattern I should do so I so choose to do a picture of a bunny. Here is my pic.

I know it's probably not what you expect but I really couldn't think of what to make. The types of triangles that I made was were Scalene, Isosceles and equilateral.

Scalene the sides are never equal and equilateral is the opposite. Isosceles always has 2 sides the same lengths.

Today I'm going to talk about : What have you been up to? Well I have been doing school work such as reading, writing and maths. But my favorite activity is  Drawing 3d it is lots of fun. How to draw 3d might sound tricky but it is actually pretty easy for example how to draw an outline of a 3d cube. Now the ones that I draw was a bit tricky and easy at the same time. Like the stairs going down into the ground. To draw these you need Paper + Pencil , Colouring pencil or Pen. Here are the video.

My Planet Writing - Art Writing

Today I'm going talk about my Favorite activity of the week  and it is writing. We ( the syndicate ) had to write our first names in linked writing. It was a fun activity that the teacher taught we would like. This is how to make it:

Art

• Get a piece of paper (baking paper or greaseproof paper works well).  

• Fold it in half (lengthways). 

• Use the middle crease as the ‘bottom’ line and write your first name in linked writing.  

• Fold the paper over and trace the name on the other side.   

• Open up your paper and you will see the base design for your name alien.

• Decorate your name (for example you could use colouring pencils) Now your done.

Then after that we had to write about where it lives, information about the planet, and how they travel.

Sophie Pascoe

Have you watched the Olympics/Paralympic?

I have in class and at home. Today I going to tell you about One of New Zealand's Greatest Olympian and that is Sophie Pascoe she is a Paralympian that has 19 medal for just being at 4 Paralympic that is amazing, right? I like Sophie Pascoe a lot she is a great role model. And one of the class activities were to make an DLO (digital learning object) about an Olympian so I choose to write mine about Sophie Pascoe. 

On my first page with information on it was how many medals she has. On the second page was her story. And finally on the last page was the Tokyo events that she participated in this year.

Olympic for Reading

The Olympics have been on for the last 2 week. And it is amazing we (New Zealand is in 13th place with 20 medals and it is so cool our team this year is amazing and our top olympian is Lisa Carrington but she isn't actually our  top olympian it is  Sophie Pascoe with 21 medals. Lisa Carrington is our normal top olympian with 6 medals and Sophie Pascoe is an olympian from the Paralympics 21 medals.

Anyways for Reading we have 3 focuses  questions that we could choose from. Here they are  :What makes up the important features of the Summer Olympics Games.  How have the Olympic changed games changed from the ancient Olympics to modern Olympics to present Olympics. What is happening for NZ at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021?

My Focus question was: How have the Olympic changed games changed from the ancient Olympics to modern Olympics to present Olympics. I had to write a lot of information about the Olympics. Here is a slideshow of my work:

Have you ever been to Cook Island?

I haven't but this week is Cook Island Language Week. We have been focusing about on th words in Cook Island Maori. Such as oneone is one way of saying sand in Cook Island. Miss Daly (one of our teacher's) got a trip to Rarotonga and she made a slideshow about it and it had lots of activities. For example guessing what someone saying, doing or wearing  and typing and what you see. But the tricky part was we had to type it in Cook Island.

Olympic Profile + Olympic Logos

Have you watched the Olympic games yet?  I have but not all of it this year.  In school we have been learning about Olympics. One of my favorite projet is Olympic Logos. It because for my work I have to Find out what logo present which  sport.  And if you watch the Olympics sometimes  it will come up with the logo which I think is pretty cool. And I never knew  that each sport has a Logo.

How to play Hide & Seek

A few weeks ago Te Waka Ako has been writing a Procedure Text. You might be wondering what Procedure Text is. It's is another word for instructions. You need to have a  title, explanation, equipment, the sentences need to start with verbs , the steps need to be numbered. For procedure Text I chooses to do Hide and Seek.

STEM Week Waikowhai Primary Student Toolkits

STEM week at Waikowhai. 

Fun! Fun! This is great! 

Last friday the 11th of June was a Student Led Toolkits at Waikowhai. It was also STEM week, Stem stands for science, technology, engineering and maths.There were 24 presenters and 12 toolkits. All the Senior and Middle schools attended the toolkits that day. There were 3 sessions that day too. The first session was 11:00am - 11:30am. The 2nd session was 11:30am - 12:00pm and the last session was  12:00 - 12:30. 

For the first toolkits Me and my partner Hazel did a presentation. We had 17 attended in the first round. Here are some of the word arts that I created:

 

 

Here is the instructions on how to use word art

First thing you need to do is search up  Word Art  . Next press button.  After that you need to you can fill in words that you want . Now you change the size, colour angle and font. .  You can now choose a shape   . Next  choose a font    .  And the position you want the word to . After that you can choses your colour you want it to be . Finally press .  And Now you're done.

For the 2nd toolkits I did Word Art too (because I prestend ). In this one we had less people and it was better to tell want to do. But there was one problem some people we're a bit ahead even when they didn't know want to do.

Lastly I went to Music lab . The prestener we're Paityn  and Erana. They told us how it works and showed us how to use them. Here is their  Presentation

Student Led Toolkits

Wow so cool! 

On thursday 20th of May, 22 student from Seniors in Waikowhai Primary went to Owairaka School for the Student Led Toolkits. 6 student from our school presented on how to uses some website like Google maps, Music Lap and more. The first thing we did when everyone got there is have an introduction. Next everyone went to the their first lesson on how to uses an app.

The first place I went to was to room 25 where I learn how to use Word Art. The presenter Justus and Kapiri. They should everyone how to use Word Art. Here a picture of my Word Art:

For the Second Session I went to room 23 where I was learning how to use Animation with Google slides the prestern were  Irie, Arian and Nikile. They showed everyone on how to do Animation with Google slides. The first thing you need to do is make a slide  with a background and choose the a character. Next move the character bit by bit and you can duplicate a slide too. Here an Animation of mine so far.

For the last sesion I went to room 7 to have some fun with Incredibox where I could have fun with Music. So all you have to do is and drag the picture to the people so they have something to wear.  Now you can listen to your beats. 

After that everyone went into the hall, listen to two people for Fusion interns talk about how they got into their job. Then it was time to  leave. Overall I thought that it was a brilliant day.  Have you ever been to toolkits?

Wellbeing with Miss McGrath 🙂

Fortune teller / chatterbox origami, Complement circle, Musical gratitude game, FUN!  FUN! FUN!    

This morning 17th of May, the year 5 ( which  counts me too )  were having the morning block and middle block with Miss McGrath because the year 6's are on an exhibition with the teacher's. 

The first thing we ( the year 5's )  did was have a talk about the wellbeing survey. Which wasn't very fun. Next we did a game called  Musical gratitude. We needed  to walk around and when the music stops we need to go to the closest person and say what we were grateful for. we did it 3 times. 

Then we moved on to making Fortune teller /chatterbox  (origami). We made a little origami that you can play with and we needed to tell what we do when people bully others. What we wrote inside was 3 different things, what we do when  people bully us, a compliment to others and something to make us happy when were upset. I chose to do a compliment to others.  Here are some pictures of the fortune teller: 

          

So the first thing we did to make the Fortune teller / chatterbox  was get a square piece of paper. Next you need  to fold the the paper diagonally 90 degrees ( which is a quarter way )  and fold it diagonally. Now we fold it in the middle and turn it 90 degrees and fold down the middle again.  Soon  you will see your square divided into the 8 part. fold each corner to the centre.  Now turn it over and do it again. Turn it up one more time and open the 4 top square with your fingers and push. And now you will have your origami done. You just need to write something in and add colour.  Here are some pictures of how to make a chatterbox:

        

Finally we did the compliment circle where  you have to give a compliment to others and someone is together compliment do you. I think it's great to give a compliment to everyone. You needed to sit in a circle you need to give a compliment to someone but before you do that someone needs to give a compliment to you. It's great to give a compliment to everyone.

Anyways overall I think that it was a morning. Have you ever made a chatterbox / fortune teller?

Swimming at Cameron pools

Splash, Splash, Splash!   

On every Tuesday & Thursday for the first 5 week of Term 2. The Middles and Seniors get to go to Cameron pools for swimming lessons. we get there and back by bus. The Seniors get to go in the main pool and the middles get to go in the Nan's pool it wasn't all ways this why but we had to because of lockdown. For the first lesson we went into random groups because they didn't know which group to put us in. For the second lesson  they put us in the right pools. And so far for the third and fourth we were in the same.

Fish in a tree, The Sketchbook of Impossible Things

For teacher read we  have been reading a novel called "Fish in a Tree". The book is about a girl named  Ally Nickelson. She  has Dyslexia so the words jump / move around. She likes to draw and her grandpa say that she is like an artist.  

The Sketchbook  of Impossible Things  is when Ally has pictures in her mind that are impossible. Manukau, my class, we had to draw pictures of some of the impossible things. One of them was a dinosaur holding a teacup. Another was a snowman working at a Furnace Factory, a fish in a fish tank with snorkel. Why does the fish need a snorkel when it can breath underwater? There was also a candy land. There was a man in a banana boat. There are more picture's too but I'm only half way through the book.   

I think that the story is so far so good.

Easter

Hello bloggers 

Today I will be telling you about Easter, or at least what I did for Easter,

So lets start with Good Friday which was the 2nd of April. It was movie night for me. I didn't have to do homework like usual instead I go watch TV, Ipad and my computer. That what I did for 1/3 of the day.

Then I had an easter hunt in my garden for half a hour. It was lots of fun. But I have a question what did you do for Easter Write in the comments.
